The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission held a working meeting between the management of the regulator and the National Energy Chamber, the Commission reported. In the conversation, which took place at the initiative of the Chamber, on behalf of the Commission, the chairman of the of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission participated Assoc. Prof. Ivan Ivanov, members of the regulator and experts, and the National Energy Chamber was represented by the members of the Management Board of the Association.
The conduct of the meeting is in line with the Commission`s policy of publicity and transparency of regulatory policy through regular contacts with representatives of all stakeholders to discuss topical issues in the energy sector, the energy regulator points out. During the discussions the Chamber discussed issues related to the necessity of changes in the current mechanism for achieving the national targets in the field of energy efficiency, the functioning of the balancing electricity market and the role of the regulator in ensuring the transparency of the exchange trading with electricity and avoiding abuses by market participants.
In relation to one of the topics discussed - energy efficiency, the participants in the meeting expressed the common opinion that the measures under the mechanism for achieving the national targets should not lead to additional financial burden for the end customers and the whole energy system.
