At a closed meeting, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) approved the prices of electricity for households, the preferential prices of electricity and the premiums of producers of combined heat and power production and the premiums of producers of renewable energy sources as of January 1, 2025.
By Decision Ц-1 of 01.01.2025, the EWRC has set the forecast market price for baseload as of January 1, 2025 at BGN 212.21/MWh.
With the currently set forecast market price for baseload at BGN 212.21/MWh, the forecast market price for the producer groups is set as follows:
1. Producers of electricity generated from solar energy - 173.46 BGN/MWh;
2. Producers of electricity generated from wind energy - 204.39 BGN/MWh;
3. Producers of electricity produced by hydroelectric power plants with installed capacity up to 10 MW - BGN 226.45/MWh;
4. Producers of electricity generated from biomass - 215.31 BGN/MWh.
According to the EWRC, the main reason that necessitates the amendment of electricity prices and premiums is the significant increase in the forecast annual market price for baseload for the period 01.07.2024 - 30.06.2025 from BGN 173.09/MWh to BGN 212.12/MWh or by more than 23%, which reflects the price achieved as of 30.11.2024 and the forecast for the remaining period until 30.06.2025. Pursuant to Article 31a(2) of the Energy Act, the Commission is obliged to amend the determined premiums for producers of electricity from renewable sources in case of a significant variation (more than 15%) between the determined forecast market price for baseload compared to the achieved price and the forecast price for the remaining period of the price period.
