On April 9, 2024, Regulation No. E-RD-04-2 of April 2, 2024 on guarantees of origin for energy from renewable sources was promulgated in the State Gazette.
The Regulation is of key importance to ensure the completion of the regulatory process for the issuance, transfer, revocation and recognition of guarantees of origin for renewable energy.
The Regulation will contribute to introducing the possibility of issuing guarantees of origin for biogas and green hydrogen electricity. It separates as a separate process the registration of renewable energy producers who apply for guarantees of origin and introduces requirements for the maintenance of the single electronic register of guarantees of origin. This will contribute to the alignment of the issuing, transfer and revocation of guarantees of origin for renewable energy with the CEN - EN 16325 standard.
The legislative act will also contribute to improving the quality of the process of issuing, transferring, revoking and recognising guarantees of origin for energy from renewable sources, as well as the process of data administration in the single electronic register of guarantees of origin.
