1,544 household projects will receive funding for the purchase of solar installations for domestic hot water or photovoltaic systems up to 10 kWp, including electricity storage systems, the Ministry of Energy said. This is possible after - after a long delay - the work of the evaluation committee on the procedure was completed and the ranking was confirmed by the Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov.

Households applying for funding under the procedure have been waiting for the ranking for a long time, since the reception of project proposals started in May 2023 and ended in November 2023. The results follow a substantial acceleration of the evaluators work in recent months, requested by Minister Malinov.

A total of 2001 project proposals were submitted under the first call of the National Household Renewable Energy Support Scheme, funded under the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan. Of these, 147 were withdrawn by the applicants.

"The implementation of the scheme is of utmost importance for consumers, who will thus be able to significantly reduce their electricity costs", Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov said and also recalled the environmental benefits of replacing solid fuels with electricity.

The implementation of the procedure aims to increase the use of renewable energy in household final consumption.

The Ministry recalls that the procedure provides grant funding for the supply and installation of solar installations for domestic hot water supply, as well as photovoltaic systems with a capacity of up to 10 kWp, which may also include systems for storing the electricity produced.

The total investment is BGN 240 million - BGN 140 million on account of the Recovery and Sustainability Facility and BGN 100 million national and private co-financing.
